WHAT IS FRACTIONATED COCONUT OIL?

Fractionated coconut oil, also known as "MCT oil" and "liquid coconut oil," is derived from the coconut palm, scientifically named Cocos nucifera (L.). It boasts a clear or transparent appearance and a thin consistency, accompanied by a mild scent that makes it suitable for diverse applications.

The coconut palm, originating from tropical regions like India, the Philippines, and Thailand, produces the fruit from which fractionated coconut oil is extracted. Flourishing in sandy soils under abundant sunlight and regular rainfall, these palms yield coconuts of exceptional richness and quality.

Fractionated coconut oil distinguishes itself through its unique physical attributes. Unlike virgin coconut oil, which can solidify and appear cloudy at room temperature, fractionated coconut oil remains in a clear, liquid state. This liquid consistency is achieved through the removal of specific fatty acids, notably lauric acid, which solidifies at higher temperatures. This absence of longer-chain fatty acids gives fractionated coconut oil its thin, non-greasy texture.

Furthermore, while virgin coconut oil carries a distinct tropical fragrance due to its full spectrum of fatty acids and natural compounds, fractionated coconut oil is relatively odorless. This neutrality allows it to blend seamlessly with other fragrances or essential oils without overpowering their scents.
